Working at NINE dot ARTS is unlike any work experience you’ve ever had. That is, unless you’ve previously worked in an old concrete warehouse converted into a stylish, open floor plan workspace filled with a rotating art collection from up-and-coming local artists, mid mod furniture, a buzz of constant activity, and co-workers who share your passion for art and your commitment to delivering great work. And even if you have, we still think this is a place unlike any other.

At NINE dot ARTS, we curate art experiences. If you’re looking for a truly unique career experience, check out one of our job openings and get in touch!

CURATOR:

Do you have an eye for art and a mind for business? Are you excited as much by managing a project on time and on budget as you are by discovering a new artist with amazing talent? Do you bounce back and forth between your left brain and right brain? If you’re nodding your head, read on.

NINE dot ARTS is looking for a Curator to join our small but incredibly mighty team. This is a role that will put you out in front with clients, managing relationships and projects every day. It’s never slow and you have to be able to constantly juggle priorities and hit deadlines without exception. And then there’s the financial side of things: you’ll partner with operations and financial team members to deliver work that hits not only deadlines, but also our financial targets. We’re a for-profit business and your work is incredibly important in keeping it that way. Now let’s talk about the work.

We curate art experiences and our Curators are the people who make that happen. We want your experience working with clients, art and artists and we’ll give you tons of opportunity to let that experience shine. When you’re not meeting with clients, you’ll be researching artists, talking to artists, and having artists present their work. One day you might be walking through a client’s new space that needs art to bring it to life, and the next day you might be visiting an artist’s studio and discussing a commission for a stunning new artistic creation. It’s floor plans, space planning, budgeting, and art (yes!), all day, every day. And no two days are the same.

Here are some specific skills, qualities, and traits we’re looking for:

  • Passion for art and design.
  • Experience in client management with multiple accounts.
  • High level of creativity and innovation when approaching various projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Extremely strong interpersonal communication skills. Should be able to effectively build trust with artists and clients through written and spoken correspondence.
  • College degree is required. Degree in an arts program? Great! Degree in something else? Just bring an extra helping of art experience.

And some specifics on exactly what a Curator actually does:

Project Leadership

  • Define project vision—identify project goals and selection criteria, art locations and budget strategies.
  • Communicate your Art Program through written, oral and in-person presentations.
  • Lead large art committee meetings.
  • Make art recommendations and curate large collections.
  • Meet with Head of Client Operations on a regular basis to ensure that all projects are on budget and on schedule.
  • Maintain excellence in art program curation and design on multiple scales, aesthetics and environments.
  • Provide detailed explanations of art in visual preference surveys, proposals and existing inventories.

Client Relations

  • Appeal to a diverse group of clients, modifying approach for each client as needed.
  • Lead client meetings, establish and manage project timelines.
  • Ensure client satisfaction of artwork and installation.
  • Explain and offer all company services.

Sales and Marketing

  • Help to develop NINE dot ARTS’ network of clients.
  • Actively participate in sales & marketing meetings when required.
  • Help increase name recognition for NINE dot ARTS in local, regional and national art communities.
  • Whenever possible, initiate contact with architects, designers, project managers and all other types of prospective clients.
  • Attend networking events for new business.

NINE dot ARTS offers a friendly, collaborative, and energetic working environment in a super cool office with our own private parking lot in the LoHi neighborhood near (but not in) downtown. We work in an open, art-filled space where we roam freely between our team clusters of desks, our comfortable meeting spaces, and our kitchen lounge (free unlimited La Croix and snacks!). It’s a unique place filled with lots of creative thinking.

What will we offer the right person?

  • A salary and incentive comp package worthy of your experience
  • Full health benefits (available after 3 months of full-time employment)
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Retirement contributions (available after one year of full-time employment)
  • Annual company retreat (available after one full year of full-time employment)

ART ADMINISTRATOR:

Great art installations and experiences don’t just magically happen, it takes a lot of roll-up-your-sleeves work keeping all the moving parts on track. It’s work that requires ninja-like skills in project management with polished client and vendor communication, along with calendar juggling that can border on the extreme. But your love of art will help you overcome every challenge and will carry you through to an incredibly rewarding finish. •   Handle shipping and delivery of art pieces.

Artist Relations

  •   Maintain primary relationships with established artists, galleries, and vendors.
  •   Conduct local, national, and international scouting for emerging and established artists.
  •   Build relationships in the art community.
  •   Oversee quality control and accuracy on all art orders.

  •   Coordinate installations, project updates and meetings.
  •   Coordinate with project designer/project manager on finishes, floor plans, and lighting.
  •   Ensure client satisfaction regarding installation and art locations.

Here are some things you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  •   Bachelor’s degree required; something in the arts is preferred but not required.
