Since our launch in 2010, we’ve had the opportunity to curate hundreds of art installations for NINE dot ARTS clients in 34 states and four countries.
Whether it’s a singular, commissioned original piece that infuses a space with meaning and substance, or a community-wide activation that repositions a neighborhood as an arts destination, every project fosters a sense of excitement and joy that’s different by the installation and impossible to replicate.
As you’ve learned over the past few weeks, creating a successful art experience doesn’t happen overnight. Nor does it happen without trust and partnership – not just between NINE dot ARTS and our clients, but between the artists, art handlers, gallery owners, construction crews and everyone else in between.
From detailed vision sessions and inspiring site walks to comprehensive art proposals and acquisition meetings, the entire journey comes down to this: delivering a powerful art experience for people to embrace, celebrate, and enjoy.
Our art installation process – the final piece of the puzzle – is about more than simply putting art in its place. We take great pride in professional and well-managed installations, which can range in time from just a few hours to a week or more, depending on the scale of the project.
The Quantifiable and The Ineffable – a three-dimensional, 15-foot-long, 300-pound sculpture fashioned from reclaimed wood that’s suspended from the lobby ceiling of The Maven Hotel in Denver’s Lower Downtown neighborhood – required a five-to-six member, professionally-trained installation crew to properly handle, guide and position the artwork into place. It’s since become the top Instagram-able spot within the entire Dairy Block.
It’s also not uncommon for our clients to want to get involved. Whether they help by laying out the artwork or simply bringing coffee to the crew for an early morning install, their eagerness to be a part of the process is just another indication of the partnership we form with our clients.
Beyond installation, we help educate client team members on the background and story behind the art, so they can become knowledgeable about the entire installation and answer questions or even give tours of the art throughout the space. This kind of education helps create a more interactive and immersive art experience for visitors, allowing the installation to take on a life of its own.
For every project, we provide art identification labels that present the artist’s name, title of the artwork, and medium. Depending on the project’s scope, we also provide brochures and even high-quality books that can be placed throughout guest rooms or common spaces that provide in-depth information about the collection, artists, and more.
Every piece of art has a story to tell. When those pieces are installed into a cohesive collection, they become part of an even greater narrative that can transform a space into an experience.
Let us show you how.
